Taboo Tens: Day One Reader Post Leaundra Ross

Leaundra Ross

Greetings fans! Welcome to the first day of Taboo Tens MONTH!

I'm very excited because we have soo much going on with giveaways, blogposts by great authors as well as a couple of surprises along the way.

With this kind of event you want to do something different, something that would grab peoples attention. What better way to do this than invite a fan to blog?

Leaundra Ross or Lee Lee is a big presence on Facebook, Twitter as well as Goodreads. I asked Leaundra to write a post about her feelings on gay fiction, why she reads it, etc.

She did so well writing it, I had very little editing to do and I really appreciate her jumping right into it and taking the time to let all of us know how she feels about the m/m genre.

I hope to have a couple more fans on in a week or two, but here now is Lee Lee!

Okay my love of reading M/M started sometime in 2008, I’m a big time reader and before I even discovered ebooks all I read were M/F  paperbacks.   I was one of those people that said I would never read ebooks(laughing  at myself now, lol)

One day I heard about this site All Romance that sold ebooks. I was curious so I checked it out and saw that they had M/M books and knowing I’ve always wanted to read one,  I looked through all of the books and I decided to buy one. I was hooked! At the time I lived in Germany and I couldn’t find any good books to buy and I hated ordering them so being able to buy them and get them right away was a big hook for me.  When I started buying the ebooks I would get M/M or M/M/F. They opened a new world for me and at the beginning I probably wasted a lot of money because if I saw the book was M/M or M/M/F I would buy it no matter what it was about. lol

As  I started reading more I got a little more picky about what I read and who I read. I noticed when I read M/M/F  I would  love  when the guys were  together but when once  one of them was with the woman I wanted it to be over with her so the guys could get back in bed. lol.  So it wasn’t hard I just started reading M/M.

Now that’s all I read is the M/M at least for now.  As a big reader my taste has changed so I just go with the flow.  I really can’t tell you a favorite author because they all have different writing styles so it’s like apple and oranges to me.   I have read so many great ones and it would really be too many to list.  It doesn’t matter if they’re male or female, I just like a great book.  I love the insta-love , I love when they’re mushy, I love the Alpha male, I love if they’re nerds, beautiful  etc,  I prefer an HEA(It doesn’t have to be, but I like it best) only because I read to escape real life. It doesn’t always have to be too realistic for me.  I love paranormal. I just love when two hot men are together, lol .

I will tell you I’m so glad I discovered M/M and have been reading it  since 2008. I know things aren’t perfect  but I see that  it’s out there a lot more than it was three years ago.  There’s more sites, more authors and lots more choices to choose from.   I just want to say for all of the authors out there, thanks for what you do.  I know it’s not always easy, but from this reader I so appreciate your hard work.   I want to thank everyone who reads this. I’m so not a writer so that’s why I don’t write but read but I’m happy to do this for Michael Mandrake.   Thanks for asking from a readers view.

Thank you Leaundra for getting us started. Its great to hear it from the other side. How much our work as authors is appreciated. of course, we are readers too but when an actual fan who doesn't write says thanks, it means so much more.

You rock MM for bringing one of my very favorite people onto your blog. I'm jealous that you got her first! LOL! Hey Lee Lee. I first friended Lee Lee because I noticed her presence all over my author friends posts. She's the kindest person and always gives the authors including myself positive and wonderful feedback. Thank you for reading sweetie. I have you in my head when I write :)

wow, that was a great post LeeLee! you just put in words the way I feel! I knew there was a reason why I like you!!
And Michael, this idea to have a fan explain why he/she reads M/M is a great one!

Great post Michael and Leaundra! Thanks for sharing that with us Leelee. You really are a sweetheart. You are one of the most welcoming people I have met since I started writing. You always have a kind word to say about everyone. As Michael said, we are readers too and I'm sure our reasons for both reading and writing in the M/M genre are similar but it is always great to hear other peoples views and feedback especially those who are not writers themselves.

*mwah* Thank you for writing that, Lee Lee! We are nothing without our readers and we are so grateful to each and every one of you out there, especially vocal, involved ones, like our Leaundra, who lets us know she's rooting for us :D

I am sticking with MMF for now because I like to insert "myself" into the menage! But I know what you mean--spending every dime on anything I can get my hands on!

LOL Karen. Understandable but I always think like, i'm watching them do it and then I join in off screen. :)

Thx for stopping in

Great blog, Leaundra, thanks for the look inside your head and the chance to get to know you better. Do you only read within the romance genre now? Would you pick up a m/f book if you found one that interested you? What would your ideal m/m book be?

TY for stopping in Julie!

I'll let Lee Lee know to come back and answer,

Thanks, Jade, Lavinia,Angel, Lucia, Karen Rawiya,L.C and Sarah:-) Julie, yeah I've been reading just the M/M now I haven't honestly been looking at the M/F now but I know some authors in their series have M/F so I might then, especially if it goes with the storyline. I think the reason M/M excites me now because I've been reading since I was ten and when I was a teen reading M/F ,that's been a lot of years, lol. M/M just excites me now. It doesn't mean I won't ever read M/F again. I have my different reading moods even within M/M. Karen that's what I started reading first M/M/F and I have read some great ones but my taste have just changed at least for now. There is so much to choose from now which makes it so nice. I have had the pleasure to "meet" tons of authors and I think it's the coolest thing!

Thanks Lee Lee, and i have enjoyed being a fan too as well as a writer to "meet" tons of cool people.

I hope to get to Gay lit Rom in October, then I can meet some of my heroes in person!

Great blog Lee lee! It's nice to hear from a reader of MM as well as the authors. I know you've been a big fan of the genre for ages, and a great supporter of all of us. Thank you!

Wonderful post! Like the others here, I really appreciate your support. I started out reading m/m and then, like you, that became my exclusive genre. A couple of years ago I made the leap to author. Any plans to pen your own novel, Leaundra?

Leaundra said...

Awwww thanks Amanda, yeah I really love the genre and so glad I found it-)You're one of the reason I read it I love your books. Thanks, Eden I also really love your work and no I honestly don't have an interest in writing. My passion is reading and so glad I can do that all the time:-)
