Saturday Sips - Jude's Gift for Valentines Day

Good morning!

Welcome to Michael's for the Saturday Sip.

This weekend i'm not really giving you a sip from a WIP. It's been published but the longer version of this tale will be called, My Sexy Vampire.

The story in the Love Tells All Anthology is called, Jude's Gift for Valentine's Day. It's about a vampire who is holding on to immortality by a thread and instead of his primary need being blood, its inspiration.

He has found that in William, a aspiring writer who is looking for the same.

I'll begin working on this story this week for XOXO's Halloween line, but in the meantime, here is a snippet from the short.

“However you would like to fix it, just do it quickly,” I said to my lover Jude, who had feast on me a little more than usual.

The wound on my neck that he left from our last session of lovemaking was the size of a large grape. I had never seen anything like that on me, less alone on anyone else. The sight of it scared me.

“Forgive me, my darling. It’s just that, you…well…you excited me, more than any of my companions. You have given me a new life, my dear, one that I never thought would come.”

Softening my stance, “I guess I should be grateful then, that you see me as important in your life. You could have anyone you want, but yet you want me, little old me,” I smiled, wincing as he pressed his hand firmly on my throat making the bite heal.

“Yes, my love. You are my muse you know, my source of inspiration. When are you going to let me make you my eternal lover?” Jude kissed the side of my face, panting loudly.

“I, I don’t know, Jude. Although it sounds like it would be quite promising…I…”

“Shh…I don’t want to hear the excuses, my love. The only words I want to hear you say are, take me Jude, I’m yours.

Jude had long wanted me to give in, let him take my life, making me live forever in his arms. Still, I could not bring myself to do it; I had so much to live for. At this point, my writing had just taken off; I had a best seller on my hands, everyone wanted to talk to me about it. I had always dreamt of being an aspiring author and now, that vision was being realized. However, I also longed to be exactly what Jude had desired since we had gotten together. I would not give of myself until the Valentine’s day since I felt that would be appropriate for my immortal that would be three centuries old the following year; giving my heart and soul to him during the loveliest, most romantic time.

“William, please, what do I need to do to convince you that the alternative is what you should choose? Don’t you see how much you mean to me? Why, I would probably be dead if it weren’t for you.”

Once he mentioned that, I turned my head away from him while getting up from the couch. “Jude please, I didn’t do anything that spectacular. All I did was…”

“Offer yourself as nourishment and fulfillment, my dear. This old bloodsucker was an emotional wreckage, but you my love, rescued me from that damned state. For that, I will always be grateful.”

I stood in front of his tinted window, looking out amongst the people. Daily, Jude would go out, capturing one or two of these poor mortals, taking their blood for his own to continue.

Although I allowed him to take some of mine, I could not give him enough to sustain his appetite. In our relationship, he thought of me as a dessert or the appetizer depending on what time of day.

Just as I put my hands on the glass, he came behind me, tracing his nails down my back. The feel of his fingers was so electric, I could not deny how good it made me feel.

“William, my love, my muse, please, think it over some more. Become my permanent source of inspiration and I in turn shall be yours.” Jude’s breath was hot on my neck; I felt the tip of his fang pierce me.

While sitting there in silence, I played out the scenarios in my head of how this would work versus how it would fail.

‘All my signings would have to be after dusk, I would have to pose for pictures asking photographers to avoid using flashes, when going out in public, I would have to fight the desire to want to take someone’s neck to feed on when I got hungry.’

How would I be able to do that? Jude was a pro, he knew how to react to these situations.

Still thinking, Jude wrapped his arms around my waist whilst rocking me from side to side; he was such a romantic, I loved that about him.

Thanks for reading!
