Saturday Sips - The Power of Muse and Inspiration

Greetings fans!

Welcome to Michaels with another Saturday Sip.

Thie week, I'm previewing the story I just started called for now, My Sexy Vampire. It's actually sort of a comedy which is why I've used that title but I might end up reverting it back to the original title which is, Jude's Gift of Inspiration.

Above, is my model for the vampire Jude who sets out to find a mate after being alone for so long. He finds himself losing inspiration and become haughty in his old age of 299 years. Now, he's spotted the man he wants and will do anything to get him but will William accept him as a lover?

That's just a small blurb. The short of this story is in the Love Tells All Anthology from XOXO and the story there is called, Jude's Gift for Valentines Day.

Here is a little snippet of what I'm writing now. It should be finished and submitted to XOXO for a Halloween release.

Cold winds blew through the trees and grass, making his walk through this park especially difficult. Sirens from fire engines and ambulances, cars whizzing by with music blaring out the windows all made him wince. Often Jude the Vampire hated he hadn’t been staked by now because of all his ill feelings towards modern technology.

“No such thing as quiet anymore,” he snapped. The days of taking leisurely strolls through the fields with nothing in sight were gone. Now, here in the twenty first century, everything that moved had to be noisy. Such was the reason he had to give up his small house on the outskirts of London, just because he could no longer stand living near the freeway with all the automobiles, the buses, the motorbikes. In his mind, he’d lived long past where he could tolerate these menacing things but he couldn’t ask for death, no no, there had to be a good reason for his demise.
Jude, otherwise known as Judias Winston III was the son of Martha and Peter Winston. Peter was a soldier while his mother took care of Judias. In truth, because of their stance on religion, the couple picked the name Judias. Both weren’t firm believers in a higher being or creator, they placed their thoughts in evolution. However, because they didn’t want their child to be teased maliciously, they bestowed him something alternative to the betrayer of Jesus. People still raised eyebrows but the couple didn’t really care.
The Winston household remained a loving one throughout the young man’s childhood. His mother took great time with him, teaching him to read and write before he attended school and even afterwards, encouraged him to do something other than schoolwork like writing or drawing.
The latter he quickly took a hold too and when he completed middles school, he began to pursue his love for art. He’d paint pictures of family as well as picturesque scenes like the country sides or any magnificent visions that roamed through his head. Jude hardly ever lacked inspiration but these days, as he approached his three hundredth year on this wretched earth, he could feel himself fading away.
Having no one to love or care for him depressed the vamp and drained his energy. His last partner, a young man he’d taken from the Far East ran off with another vampire. That one was so close to being the man Jude thought was his eternal lover but once he caught sight of an immortal of his own breed called Kyokia, he took off without looking back.
This loss of who he thought was the one nearly killed him and now he was hanging onto his zest for life by a thread. Unlike everyday vamps who were fuelled by blood and hatred, Jude or Judias thrived on inspiration which usually came from the man he loved. If it were a mortal who excited him like his former partner, then he could live for days on that and very little nourishment. However, not being in a committed relationship with anyone was slowly breaking him and he knew if he didn’t find the lover that would change his mood, surely he’d become haughty and evil like the others before and after him.
Contentment, lust, euphoric love is what he strived for in his latest search for an eternal partner. Jude would not give up the fight anytime soon but his wavering faith in the process added to his disgruntlement. Once that happened, he knew his desire to create would fade as well.
Tired from strolling aimlessly, he finally found a place to relax in St. James Park. He recalled this place decades ago when it was much quieter and a lot of his fellow vamps roamed free, finding many delicacies of the male and female variety to ravage and kill for nourishments and or pleasures. Nowadays, there was still some that might’ve tickled his fancy but most of those were in the seedier parts of London which he had no strength to travel to.
Jude rested his weary head against a tree and ran his fingers through his blondish brown hair which felt as if it were thinning. In disgust, he pulled the hood over his head and cursed the invisible gods before him for dealing him this cruel hand.
Why had he left his maker’s side, he wondered. If he hadn’t got a strong head, guiding him in the wrong direction, his zest for life might not be in jeopardy.

Hope you liked. Please go to BLRawiya's for a sip from BL
