Backlist Bloghop

Greetings folks!

Welcome to the Backlist Bloghop!

I wanted to talk about the inspiration behind N’awlins Exotica. What prompted me to write the romantic collection? Okay well, it was months ago right after NaNoWrimo. I’d just completed Under the Gun 2 and I was looking to do another m/m short story in December for an Xmas release. I asked good friend and fellow author, Sara York who did the cover for Rawiya’s best selling m/f I Like Em Pretty to do an m/m version as well. When she sent it back to me, she sent me this lovely piece of art.

Wow, was I floored! Look at the beautiful image. My main characters Kajika Fortier and Frankie Choteau came to life just looking at this cover. Then I started thinking, an illustration that lovely and gorgeous needs more of a story. Some with conflict, perhaps a murder since Frankie is a homicide detective. No way could I allow a fab cover like this only go on a short novella.

So I crafted a basic plot. Kajika’s lover is dead, Frankie comes and investigates, presents issues because Kajika is a suspect and they want to fall in love. Simple right? No, not exactly. It took me about 2 months to get first draft done and when I sent it to my good friend and beta/editor, she tore it apart as she should’ve. No question it needed work. I didn’t have every fact straight, key details were missing and I had to overhaul the story. Since Shar was vacationing at that time, it took us 2 more months just to do edits and get it back to the editor. When we did, it was in better shape but of course we went through 3 stages to get all the points correct.

During this time, the supporting characters began to yell loudly in our ears. Frankie’s partner on the force, Kenina Porter wanted her own book. Vance Morain, the other cop wanted a love story with Kenina but then he changed his mind and picked someone else. Not telling who! *grins* And then, Orrin, Vance’s partner said, where’s my book? Naomi Beneviere, who is Kajika’s best friend said the same thing. She wanted her conflict, her happy ending and so the N’awlins Exotica series was born!

And because I was working on a story for awesome reader and friend Judie Stewart, my twin vampires, Ryland and Ryder Durand also got into the act.

From them, the N’awlins Exotica Paranormal series was born as well. Eventually the twins will become part of the regular series and since this is a triad effort between me, Rawiya, and BLMorticia, both my sister muses will be doing books as well.

Wow. From one small idea, came a 12 book series. Yes, a 12 book series. It’s a collection full of sexual tension, mystery, suspense, murder, and all books push the limits of the erotic. Me being the stuffy muse usually wants to keep up with the plots with very little sex but for this series, I throw it all in the mix and we came up with a collection of books we hope everyone will enjoy. Yes, you’ll have to read them in order to keep up with what’s going on as the next book, relates to the one prior. All books are chocked full of action and I’m excited for everyone to read them.

And to think all this came from one single idea that went from small thought to successful collection. ILEP and Mon Frere have done tremendously well in their first months of release. If you haven’t checked them out yet, I hope after reading this post that we convinced you to do so.

Thanks for listening. Here is the official blurb, blurbs for both books as well as links to excerpts.

Overall Series Blurb

The N’awlins Exotica/Paranormal series

The city of New Orleans is rich in tradition, diverse, and known for the inspiration it provides. In the “Big Easy” there lies the hunger for the erotic as well as the unknown. The residents here feel that sexual energy and it reveals itself through their various creative activities.

Join the characters as they take a wild ride on the edge, enjoying their town for all it has to offer. There’s a certain magic in the air, an erotic magic that cannot be ignored.

I Like Em Pretty Book Blurb

New Orleans is supposed to be the big easy. One night changes everything for Frankie Choteau.

New Orleans. A city rich in tradition, diversity, and on the comeback trail from hurricane Katrina. Francois “Frankie” Choteau, a resident of this town, a cop with a hot temper and low tolerance for bs. Kajika Fortier, a transplant from Oklahoma came here looking for a dream and unfortunately it’s turned into a nightmare. On a hot summer night, they meet and cross paths during a very difficult situation. Despite this, the attraction between them is evident and loneliness for both men is a fate worse than death. They’d both like a chance at happiness but will the circumstances and Frankie’s uneasiness prevent their happy ever after?

Mon Frere, My True Love N’awlins Exotica Paranormal #1

Blurb: Twin vamps Ryland and Ryder Durand are only different in personality while the rest is exactly the same. Ryland, the author is calm and conservative while Ryder the club owner is wild and lewd. However, the brothers share the same dark desire and haven’t informed one another. Will that bring them closer together or sever their relationship for all eternity?

Hop Against Homophobia Blog Event!

Good morning! Welcome to the Hop Against Homophobia! I thank Erika Pike for putting this together. I'm very glad to be part of it.

WARNING SOAPBOX RANT!

During most of my adult life, especially now that I write m/m romance, I've wondered why do so called heterosexual activists care about what gays or lesbians do behind closed doors. Has anyone from the GLBT community told you what to do in your own life?

2nd thing, why is it so important to people to force their so called moralities on others? Yeah, you may say, "well the bible says being gay or lesbian is wrong." Yeah well so is murdering, adultery, and war so as far as I'm concerned we're all sinners if we were to follow the so called bible code. Whatever the deal is, all people are from different religious backgrounds and some have no faith as all. Why is it important to force your beliefs on everyone?

Everyday the news is filled with stupidity about so called "Christians" in government offices talking about marriage being between one man and one woman while on the other hand, these are the same idiots who have cheated on their wives, who've had more than one in some places and erm, in some states, its okay to be with a relative. Oh just don't let it be your gay relative. *laughs* The hypocrisy is maddening! Are these really the people who want to take prominent roles in shaping the country? Good Lord help us!

That's why things like this blog hop happen! We're here to hop against homophobia, letting people know that love is love regardless of gender. I'd like to add color in there as well since this civil rights fight is reminiscent of the sixties when my own marriage might have been illegal. (I'm married to a Hispanic man) Why is history repeating itself? The racial issues still exist but now there are people who want to discriminate against you because of your orientation. WTF?

End the hate! Mind your own business! Let the GLBT community thrive and go back to the caves in which you came from. It has nothing to do with you.

Instead of spending time telling people who to love why not lead the parade on how we can end some of the issues and suffering worldwide? There are so many more pressing things to be concerned with than the two gay men who want to get married.

END RANT

* Okay so I've said my peace. Now, lets do a giveaway. You have 4 days to leave a comment that includes your email and win a book from my backlist. I'll giveaway 1 from each pseudonym. BLMorticia, Michael Mandrake, and Rawiya.

Hope you enjoyed my ramble. Please visit the other hoppers in this event and good luck!

Men of May Bloghop May 4-6 CONTEST Win Under the Gun

Greetings. Welcome to the Men of May Bloghop! I thought for my post I'd tell you about the characters who inspired me to write Camdyn Hardy and Malik Day from Under the Gun.

Ready? Oh I know you are. *AHEM*

Camdyn Hardy: Hard nosed alpha looking for a partner in life, work, and love. He's tough but has romantic side of him he'd like to explore with that very special man. Camdyn rarely takes no for an answer, he's aggressive, and loves to have sex whenever and wherever.

My model is David Taylor. Former porn star turned mainstream actor. His claim to fame is those distinct tats and beautiful blue eyes along with the gorgeous bod. God I wish he'd go back to porn!

Malik Day: The man has been through some things in his young life. Never been one to stay in the closet, hard nosed, military man kicked out of the armed forces due to DADT. Malik has a soft side as well and loves to play with guns.

My model for Malik is Tyson Beckford. This hottie's claim to fame is his body, sexy eyes, and that killer grin. Oh and he has tats as well. He's been in a few movies but the one performance I recall is the video with Tony Braxton Unbreak My Heart. LORDY! HOT!

So know you know who they were. Aren't they good looking together? *swoon* Please make sure you visit these other fab authors today as they post about some of their favorite male topics!

CONTEST: If you'd like a chance at Under the Gun leave your email and tell me which of my names wrote the story in your answer.  I'll pick the first one who answers to get the ebook prize!

Blurb: Camdyn Hardy is a former cop who has his own private investigator business. Due to a misunderstanding from a client, he gets into an argument with his lover Tay. Right after, they breakup Camdyn is left alone to think about his future as a PI and his love life.

Malik Day was recently discharged under the DADT policy and is looking to get his life on track The main reason he joined was because he dreamed of being a ranking officer. Now that it’s been taken away, he desires to start his life anew and find someone to share it with.

After two weeks the men meet at a shooting range and find out they have a lot in common. Once they engage in a one on one match, they proceed to a bar to have drinks and get to know one another better.  They both discover their affinity for guns as well as Camdyn’s need for a new partner at Camdyn & Associates. Malik is intrigued but afraid to ask him and decides to wait till they are closer. Camdyn is excited about this prospect as well but waits for Malik to say the word. Finally, in an erotic encounter, true feelings are revealed.

In subsequent books, the story continues where the twosome begin their work and love relationship. Together they’ll take on cases investigating cheating husbands or wives, companies with defector employees all the while trying to maintain their newfound commitment to one another as well as having a little fun in the process.
