Hop Against Homophobia Article #5 - BLMorticia

And day number 5. Almost done with the hop! It's been tons of fun too. Here is a post by wicked sis, BLMorticia. She always shocks you with her humor!

;)

* * * *

Greetings fans. Okay so, guys, you’re sitting there with your hot wife, girlfriend, or both… *snicker* and you’re watching this great movie. No, it’s not a porn but it might have a scene you didn’t expect to see, something you weren’t looking for when you scanned the backside cover reading about the flick. What is it?

Ahh! No it couldn’t be! Its, its’ A HOMOEROTIC SCENE! Wha? What’s that?

Ooh you know, it’s a gay scene, you know two men kissing, groping, maybe one drops to his knees like he’s about to give the other a blow job? *laughs* “Fuck no! I can’t watch this!” Quickly you get up, so fast you almost trip and fall on your face. You storm out the room and into the kitchen to have a drink!

*Giggles*

This hilarious scene is what Shar experienced when she watched the movie Dorian Grey with her husband.

Oh boy! What did you think was going to happen? Did you think this little scene would do something to your brain and make you suddenly want to be with a man instead of your hot girl(s)? Good grief!

The article where Shar mentions this as well as a HILARIOUS tweet from one of my fave writers Daisy Harris, made me want to write this blogpost. She tweeted about her book, Built For It, which is on my buylist. Her message, which was tongue in cheek, “My book is so hot, it turned my husband gay!” #falseadvertising. A little memo for those who don’t Tweet. #hashtag might get people to notice the message more because it’ll trend. It certainly caught my eye and I let her know how funny that was. Then I got to thinking, is that the fear straight men experience when they don’t want to watch a gay scene or read a book that has homoerotica?

Sounds silly doesn’t it? Like it’s some kind of plague or something and as Shar points out in her article, these are the same men who say they aren’t homophobic. Oh but you are, man! Dammit what’s a phobe?

Anyway, no offense to Shar’s man and many across the globe, or fuck maybe you need to be offended.  If you think seeing these kind of scenes are an issue, you may need to get a clue. There’s nothing wrong with seeing two men or women kiss on screen or reading it in a book. It’s quite hot actually!

Doesn’t turn you on? Okay, that’s your prerogative if it doesn’t but really? Must you run away from it? C’mon! No big deal. “I just don’t want to see that.” Yeah Shar feels that way when a slasher scene comes up in a horror movie. It’s a fear of what she see’s, that my dears is phobic. Same thing applies to you men who runaway from a movie PHOBIC, say it with me, P-H-O-B-I-C! Homophobic.

Are you offended? Oh well. It’s just my opinion. I can understand if you don’t want to watch a porn with nonstop male male action, it might be a bit much but a kissing scene? C’mon. It makes your girl hot! Most women love the homoerotic! She quivers and curls her toes when reading a BL love scene, gents. Get with it. This is good for you in the long run, isn’t it? You get more sex if she’s aroused. DUH!

We’ll talk more about that later. Right now, leave me your rants. Why are you so afraid? Do you feel it will turn you gay? And oh shudder, if it did, is it a problem that it turned you on? Hell, not for me. It’ll make me love you more!

* * * *

Ah BL you really don't care about pissing people off do you?

Well anyway, if you're not too offended, comment to win for this contest!

CONTEST #5 Swag! Oh some postcards and if there's a lot of comments, another gift from ILEP!

Hop Against Homophobia Article #3 - Rawiya

Alright then! Hope you've enjoyed the posts so far. Please welcome in other sister muse, Rawiya with an article about Interracial m/m!

Today, I wanted to speak about a topic I love which is interracial romance. I write them all, M/F, M/M, and ménage but I’ll focus on m/m mostly.

A while back, I did two articles about interracial m/m romances. One appeared on IRM and another one on Sizzling Hot Books. The response on the IRM was greater with many writers chiming in talking about being intimidated to write a multi cultural romance because they’d get the characters wrong.

*blinks*

In the case of m/m and m/f and really any writing for that matter, I don’t believe you can necessarily get it wrong unless you’re doing a non-fiction or historical book where your facts should be correct.

Now by no means am I saying you should just jump into it blindly. You can do a little research about the characters if you as the writer are of a different race than them but really, can you get it “wrong?”

When I think of people mentioning getting something wrong in this instance, I immediately think of the racial stereotypes. You know them because of the way the media portrays characters on sitcoms or even dramas. This media could also include books that might make their characters a certain way. However, in my estimation, this shouldn’t be the focus of any story, romance or not. It should be the characters and how their story develops throughout.

Since I wrote the blog posts I have found many more m/m IR romances and enjoyed quite a few. I fully intend to read more m/f in the future but for now, I’ll let you know what I’ve figured out while reading a few m/m stories.

In truth, most writers I’ve read didn’t bring any stereotypes into their tales at all unless it was part of the plot. What a welcome surprise too since the couple of books I’d read at first did exactly the opposite. I gathered they did their stories and made the characters relatable to anyone who read them instead of focusing on the racial differences. This allowed me to enjoy the stories even further and not wince when I came across the style of dress or the way the character talked. All the characters in the books were presented as intelligent and weren’t drawn up from what the writer might have seen on TV or even on the street. Thank goodness! Nothing would be worse for me to read a story that made me cringe.

So in regards to m/m, m/f, or ménage interracial romance the focus should be on the love between them and not the differences in their nationalities. As far as the Triad is concerned, we do exactly that. BL of course has My Lieutenant where the black character is a retired officer in the Navy and talks less slang than his white counterpart. Michael’s first m/m IR romance is through No Boundaries Press called Under the Gun. His character, Malik Day has been discharged under DADT but there’s no mention of the differences between him or his potential lover, Camdyn Hardy.

Me? Well in my first novella of the Something New on the Menu series, Time to Make the Donuts, my supporting character Andre is a smooth talker but doesn’t fit into the stereotypical black man. It’s true it might be easier for me to write from the “black” perspective since I am black but what of other ethnicities? I have a story on the docket with an Asian man as my main character. In this instance, I do intend to find stories about Asian or rather, Korean men just to learn something about the culture not any stereotypes. This won’t be easy but necessary so I can write the tale effectively and true we should do the same just so we give our readers reality but you can’t really get it wrong.

You’re writing about two living, breathing human beings and that, all of us can relate to.

CONTEST #3 Comment and enter into a chance to receive a GC with swag from Rawiya!

Congrats to BL on release day of the final book in the SNOTM series.

His father, Demi Roux, lost his battle with cancer and has left the business in his care despite Demi’s brother’s advice to leave the company to him. Alain has no interest in the company but to fulfill his father’s last wish, he takes on the day to day of it anyway.

Ty Washington is a born and raised Southsider who is working there to put himself through college. Recently, his father threw him out because he confessed he might be gay. When he and Alain talk, his heart soars and as badly as he tries to fight it, the two connect and eventually they decide to give their relationship a try. Day Two Michael's 70K Party - Rawiya

Welcome to Day Two! I'm happy to have my muse sis Rawiya with a post about m/m/f! Woot! 3 people in love is sometimes even better than two!

* * * *

Good morning. Recently I’ve crossed over into a new realm in my writing. I’ve done the M/M as well as the M/F which should be sent in for publication at some point but the MMF is one I hadn’t tackled yet and I’m very excited how it turned out. Bringing a woman into the mix was harder than I thought too. In my yet to be published story, my men weren’t ready to accept the female into their relationship and in my upcoming novel series, African Sun, the female was left out of scenes entirely since my two males couldn’t keep their hands off one another. However, I started reading more MMF books, one in particular that helped was Tara Lain’s Genetic Attraction.

I won’t spoil the book for you but in hers, she eased the female in a different way instead of having the relationship between all three start out from the forefront. Something I also wanted to explore in mine was the jealousy aspect which is real and adds a little spice to the story. In African Sun, I have that with both the MC’s male partner and his female lead. Somehow they’ll work it out. At this point I don’t even know how they do. *laughs* But in my newest book, Living in the Now, there’s an opportunity for the female to be part of the relationship and both MC’s want it, or at least it appears that way. I add the envy aspect though and in my mind, it turns out well for all three. A little bit of fun and tension since the protagonists’ boyfriend isn’t sure he’s made the right decision and my feisty female not backing down from the challenge.

I love it! This kind of setup made writing this book a lot easier and I hope when you read it you’ll enjoy what happened between my characters as well.

***Leave a comment and you'll be entered into a drawing to win a copy of this book as well as another book of your chose from my backlist! Please leave your email. Good Luck!

A story about three people searching for love in the most unconventional way. Bryan Finley and his partner Damien Earley would like a third in their relationship. While Damien is on a business trip, Bryan meets Mara Devine a sultry sexy vixen who's insatiable and wants the same. Damien has other thoughts in mind but Mara does everything in her power to turn the tables in her favor.

Angie looked at Mara who immediately drew the attention of the nice looking gentleman. “Um, Mara, this is Bryan. He just stepped in from work, needing a drink. Bryan, my friend and coworker, Mara.” Angie waived her hand.
“Hello.” He smiled sweetly and extended his palm for Mara to shake it.
Immediately she accepted, grinning at him, enjoying the sight in front of her. The feel of his hands, so soft and warm. Obviously a white-collar worker. Scents of her favorite man’s cologne infiltrated her nostrils causing her pulse to quicken. She loved to lick it off him if she had the chance.
“Hi, looks like you came in just in time to get one drink. Pity.” She cocked an eyebrow and drew up her ruby red lips into a pucker. Their gaze wasn’t broken.
He hadn’t let her hand go yet. Bryan drew up his lips. “Yeah, I guess I’ll have to drink elsewhere, hmm?”
Angie began cleaning.
Mara moved in a little closer to the bar, still staring at Mr. Hottie.
My luck just got better.
“Well, we were just about to go to another place. Do you wanna to join us?”
Bryan finished the rest of his drink and sat the glass down.  Seductively, he licked his lips making Mara salivate. She wished they were on top of hers right now.
“Sure, where you headed?”
Mara batted her eyes and leaned in closer making sure he could get a good look at her best assets. “To a place near Roosevelt called Mystique. They’re having a Fuck Valentine’s Day dance party.”
Bryan chuckled heartily, obviously amused by the reference.  “Sounds like a great time. Tell me, does the name mean you’re guaranteed a fuck today or does it call for somethin’ else?”
Mara couldn’t help but be excited by his response. “Well, I believe the answer is the latter but if you play your cards right, it may just be lucky for both you and me.” Mara’s gaze remained affixed to his dark brown orbs. In that small moment, she studied his features. Bryan was so damn hot; perfect dimples, and smooth, porcelain white skin she love to have entangled in her red satin sheets around her coffee colored body. How could a man this good looking be alone tonight?
Angie guffawed while she mopped the floor.
“Is that so,” he raised an eyebrow. “In that case, I’m game. Are you girls drivin’ over there?”
Mara felt herself creaming in response to the hot stranger. “Nope, we’re gonna take a cab since we thought we might be havin’ more than a few more drinks. Are you?”
Bryan shifted in the chair, “No, I walked over here. I work at the Water Tower for a consultants firm. I just left and decided to leave my car so I could enjoy a few libations. Mind if I tag along with you two in the taxi?”
She nodded and winked, wishing it was only the two of them at this moment but she couldn’t abandon her best friend. “Not at all. If you try anything funny, we can take you. Would you like another one before we hit the road?”
The corners of Bryan’s mouth turned up into a smile. “Maybe just water will do Mara…and your last name?” He held out his hand once more.
“Devine, Mara Devine.” Again, she took his hand firmly. The feel of his skin against hers sent electric shocks to every part of her body.
“Such a perfect name for a very attractive lady. If you’re interested my last name is Finley.”
Oh yes, I’m interested.
Bryan pulled her closer and whispered, “You look lovely tonight, Mara. I’m gonna have a hard time behaving myself and being a gentleman.”
“Then don’t, Bryan. I enjoy a little harmless playing, especially if it leads into somethin’ else.” Mara mouthed into his ear and exaggerated the end of the sentence for affect. She didn’t care that they’d just met. Mara wanted him in the worst way. She sniffed his aroma again and became intoxicated, wishing they were anywhere but here.
Bryan flinched and grinned. “Oh yeah, you’re my kind of lady, Mara. You can take the flirts and dish ‘em out.”

TRR GLBT Blog Hop feat Rawiya

Good morning readers. Welcome to the TRR GLBT blog hop! This hop runs from Sept 27th-30th

I'm excited to be hosting sister muse Rawiya since her newest book Sugar Daddy, number 4 in the Something New on the Menu series from NNP was just released.

Why do I love Rawiya's book? I love her characters. Antwon Bantu is a very mature sexy man looking for a lifetime partner while Matthew Davidison is a young man also searching for someone to love him and take care of him.

The wonders of the internet bring them together but here is the tension. There's some secrets between them to be revealed. Will this tear them apart?

Love it!

Here is the blurb and an exciting except!

Something New on the Menu Series Book Four
Sugar Daddy
Rawiya

Blurb: Matthew Davidson wants a MAN! The setting shifts away from the America’s to Britain where Matthew and his childhood friend, Devon Peartly attend a cooking school to obtain their cooking certificates. The young man wants a partner so badly, he decides he’ll try an online dating service in hopes of finding a black man that can take care of and satisfy him romantically.

He finds that man, Antwon Bantu on an online dating site and is instantly intrigued. Little does Matthew know that Antwon is involved in a “convenient” marriage and is seeking a younger partner so he can finally get on with his life. Instead of confessing the truth, he decides to hide it, fearing he’ll lose the chance with Matthew if he informs him. To complicate things, Antwon’s wife claims to be in love with him. Antwon must choose what’s more important; loving Matthew or saving his impeccable reputation as a top barrister in the London courts?

Which will he choose?

In this scene, Matthew is expecting a called from Antwon and can’t help but be nervous.

After school, Matthew did everything he could think of to keep himself busy until nine pm. He cleaned, did all his homework, cooked dinner, and talked Devon into leaving for the evening even though his good friend wanted to stay and hear the conversation. He couldn’t wait to hear that voice. Just thinking about the rich deep tone made his hardened muscle swell underneath his sweats. “Damn, what time is it?”
Nearly eight thirty; just a half an hour till he’d hear the voice of his potential new man. It didn’t matter if he wasn’t into Caucasians at the moment. Matthew assured himself he’d make Dlovr change his mind very quickly.
Matthew went into his room, trying to relax and get his wits about him. He lay on the bed he’d just made up, holding the phone in his overly busy hands. “Damnit, I’m so nervous.”
It had been awhile since he was this overjoyed about talking to someone new.
He just has to be the one.
All the signs pointed to him being the one he’d been searching for, with the only tiny detail being his preference for black or Latino. Nothin’ against men of the colored variety but I’m quite entertaining.
Gripping his cell tightly, he smiled to himself and stared at the screen. What would Dlover sound like? Matthew hoped he’d have a deep voice like Barry White, along with a slow hand. “Mhph.” A face like Denzel wouldn’t hurt! Although Matthew did say that looks didn’t matter that much, he had to wonder if Dlover was at least an average looking bloke. What if he’s butt ugly but real sweet? Just the thought made Matthew shudder. “We’ll cross that bridge when I see the picture.” He bit his lip and placed the handset face down in his lap. “C’mon nine o’clock.” This waiting period made Matthew even more uncomfortable. One by one, he began biting his nails on one hand while the other fidgeted with his curls. All kinds of what ifs ran through his brain. What if I’m not able to sway him? What if he’s pissed when he sees I’m not the man in the photo? What if he is butt ugly? Matthew shook his head and sighed. This had to be the longest half hour of his life. “Maybe I should call him, maybe…”
Jarred from his deep thoughts, Matthew nearly jumped out his skin when his phone blared the simple ring tone. His palms slightly moist, he wiped them on his trousers. Attempting to relax, he took a deep breath, and pressed the green button. “Hello?”
“Hi there, is this Choco?”
Matthew grinned and drew up his lips. A slight bit of guilt came over him. Choco eyes and hair but not skin. “Yes it is, is this Dlover?”
“It is indeed. How are you?” The smile came through the headset making Matthew’s smile grow wider. Not quite Barry White but still sexy. He licked his lips and propped his cell on his shoulder. “I’m good. My name is Matthew by the way. And yours?”
Silence then the voice came through once more. “Antwon. It’s good to talk to you, Matthew. I have to say I’ve been looking forward to this.”
“Yeah me too.” Making himself comfortable on the couch, he shifted and stretched his long legs out over the coffee table. “I have to be honest, I’ve been quite nervous about talking with you all day.”
“Same here. Maybe we could calm each other down. It’s not like we’re meeting one another in person… yet.”
The last part of that statement caused Matthew’s heart to skip a beat. Yeah they weren’t meeting but what would occur when they did?

Hopefully he’ll still like what he sees.

Saturday Sips - BL Panties in a Bunch

Greetings. I'm posting the Saturday Sip from BL for her story in teh Boys Club anthology just released Thursday. It's already a Silver Star on ARe. Congrats again BL and crew!

Panties in the Bunch: Models behaving badly! The male version of America's Next Top Model with all the drama of the reality TV show except these men aren't on film. Brendan Kushtev is tops in the modeling arena but has always had a bone to pock with 2 of his top rivals. And why oh why did they have to be his co-models on one of the biggest shoots of his life!

Brendan Kushtev frowned into the mirror.  He disliked the lighting in the dressing room, convinced it didn’t present him in the best possible light. Tousling his hair with one hand, he balanced his cell in the other, carrying on a conversation in his native Russian tongue with his agent/lover.

“I thought you said we’d be going out tonight?” His r’s rolled smoothly off of his tongue; he loosened his tie to relieve some of his tension. “This shoot is taking for fucking ever!” He rolled his eyes, listening. “Some trouble with the cameras. I thought you said this guy was a professional? “What do you have to say about that?” He grabbed for his can of cola, listening with a barely contained snarl.

“Well, like I said,” he continued, dropping his glance to his manicured nails, “I am only the best model in the world.”

He cocked a skeptical eyebrow. “I’m not sure what’s taking him so long, but I’m due for a mani-pedi after this shoot and I fucking don’t want to miss it.”  He heard the door behind him open. At last.  “Yeah, okay, listen, I gotta go!” Brendan blew a kiss through the phone and pressed the disconnect button. Glancing into the mirror, he saw Jean, along with two other men.

You gotta be kidding me.

Jean him a wry smile. “Brendan, this is…”

“I know who they are,” he interrupted, putting his hand up. “This is supposed to be my shoot. I didn’t know I’d be sharing the camera with amateurs.” Brendan petulantly folded his arms, glaring at them through the glass.

Both men chuckled and shook their heads. “Now, now, don’t get your panties all up in a bunch.” The blondish-brown haired man laughed.  “I’m sure we can all work together.”

Brendan knew exactly who this guy was. Joey Quaid. The American model who’d turned him down flat a couple of years ago when they were both drunk, attending the birthday party of a mutual friend. At that time he claimed to be straight, not even interested in being with another man—until Brendan had caught him red-handed. With the guy standing next to him, no less. Aldo Martinez.

Aldo dramatically sighed, casting his eyes toward the ceiling. His accent was sensual, and very Spanish. “You’re so sad. So much anger for such a gorgeous, young man. You need to grow up, mi amigo. You need to see the light and realize you aren’t the only model in the world.”

Rising, Brendan swayed toward them, taking mincing, determined steps. “But I’m the best. Too good to be working with amateurs! Jean, I swear…” He clenched his fists, determined to get his way.

The photographer ran a hand over his smooth head. He looked up at the three hot men, a worried expression flitting across his face. “Look, we have a great idea. A way for the three of you to get all that aggression out, all right? Brendan, if you’re mad at these guys, for whatever reason, sweetie, please keep it for the shoot. The magazine wants something different for this spread, so please, just cooperate with me. This will work in your favor, I promise.”

Brendan glanced at the other two and sighed. “You better be glad the money you’re paying me is enough. I wanna show these two who’s boss here.” Brendan crossed his arms over his strong chest again, lips pushed out in a petulant pout. He hated the very idea of sharing these pictures with this couple.

Why couldn’t it be Anyone but them?

Jean sighed and rolled his eyes “Uh okay, then. Let’s get started, shall we? Gentlemen, here’s what you’ll be wearing.” Hastening to the closet before the divas could change their minds, he pulled out three pairs of small, white bikini underwear that resembled Speedos.  Handing one to each man, he smiled. “They want to sell power, aggression, and sexy in this spread. Wear nothin’ but these, please. I’ll leave you all to change.” Without another peep, he sped out the door

Brendan exhaled the breath he’d been holding, darted glances at both of them. “Well, we meet again and… I suppose now, Joey, you’re claiming to be gay when before you denied even liking men?”

“Can’t a man change his mind?” Joey wrapped his arm around Aldo’s waist and pulled him in closer, meshing their mouths together in an obvious message.

Brendan pursed his lips, narrowing his eyes. “Hmph, not really, since you were so adamant about being straight.”

“Oh God.” Joey’s laughter shook Aldo’s frame; he turned in his embrace to face Brendan. “You’re such a bitch! You’re envious just because I turned you down, aren’t you, hot stuff? Why do you care now? Aren’t you datin’ some hotshot agent?”

“Yeah, but…he’s, well…Damn, Joey. I don’t hafta talk to you about this.” Brendan spun on his heels. It was true. Why did he care? Maybe because it burned his craw that someone had rejected him. He was the hottest man in the world. He was Brendan Kushtev—he rejected men, no one rejected him.

No one!

“You’re the one that’s brought up the old story, Brendan. I guess you’re upset I picked Aldo over you?”

Damn right.

Check out Rawiya's Sip here.
