Been so busy writing and editing haven't been posting. *blinks*

I have had time to read however, especially books that help me as research.

My favourite this week was the book below, Geography of Murder.

Wonderful murder mystery that helped me solve some issues with I Like Em Pretty which will release later this month/first week in April!

You Gotta Read THAT

Only one book since the crew was on vacation having fun in NOLA.

Let me say, I really enjoy this book by Claire Gray. Well written, the characters were lovely, and the plot was perfect. Not a lot wrong with it other than the fact the characters didn't have too much sex. 

Yes, I said it, not enough sex. BL is rubbing off on me. *chuckles*

All in all a great book. A must read vampire story which I fully enjoyed. I'm looking forward to reading more of Claire's work! This read definitely has put me in the right mindset to write my next vampire piece. 

Countdown to 70K!

Good morning!

Over the last couple of days I was happy to see the counter on my blog 

get closer and closer to 70k in views!

Woot!

Pretty exciting considering I've been only writing professionally a couple of years.

As some of you know, seven (7) is my favourite number. 

So to celebrate a momentous event of hitting 70k, I'd like to do a giveaway! A HUGE one

Just like I did at 50k I believe. 

I'm welcome to all suggestions but I think I have a pretty good idea of what I'll do.

You Gotta Read THAT!

Greetings fans!

I really only have two this week.

Somatesthesia from Ann Somerville and Taking the Dare, 4th book in the Truth or Dare series.

Just a word about both... Fucking Awesome.

Okay maybe two words but these are 2 books you should definitely pick up.

Lee's Truth or Dare series is to die for. I loved all the tales about the Blake Brothers with all their stories involving their various quirks and the changes they go through to find love.

Oh and Ann Somerville's book, my GOD! One of the best m/m romances I've read, certainly one of the best interracial.. 

The story takes place in the future, partially in my hometown of Chicago.

One thing I love about this book, no stereotypical bs but there is some racial strife in here. Only with other people they come across to add a spice of grim reality. However that doesn't interfere with the main story about these two different men, their backgrounds, and what they do to fall in love.

Awesome stories both of them. Please check out Breathless Press for Lee's Series and Samhain for Ann Somerville's book

Greetings again!

I'm always happy to have Sheila G on the blog with a post from the readers side.  Here' in the one for November. I totally relate to this.

No Time

As a reader the worst sentence I can say is “I don’t have time to read.”  That is exactly what happened to me in October.  I went to Romanticon the first weekend of the month and I have not recovered or caught up yet.  I had a blast and hear that many who went to GayRomLit also had a good time.

I usually read 15-25 books a month but this October I only read 6 books--not good!  I have to admit I did not expect Dracula to take me three weeks to read.  However, when I was reduced to reading in 15 minute spurts because I did not have time to sit and focus on my reading, a 400 page book seems as long as War and Peace, but with less names to remember.

I expect November will not be much better.  The day job is killing me.  I hit the floor running when I get in there and do not stop until I get home where I am too tired to do anything but fall asleep.  I know many writers are participating in NaNoWriMo.  Good luck to you all!  I know you understand about not having enough time.

On a high note, though, one of my bosses from the book store is now working at a used book store up the street from my mom‘s house.  This book store brings authors in to do a reading and discuss their work as well as sign it.  That is super cool for me!  I love meeting authors--we all have our vices.  I can honestly say that authors are the neatest people.  There’s only one whose work I would never read or buy again, out of all the authors I’ve met.  But that’s a story for another time.

With the holiday season coming soon, I’ll be looking at books to buy.  The best gift in the world for me is a book or a gift card for a book store.  For this month, I will recommend the following books:

          The Angel of 13^th Street by Eden Winters

          Looking for Adventure by Valentina Heart

          Beside the Darker Shore by Patricia J. Esposito

3rd Author Spotlight, Sapphire Phelan

I'm pleased to have Sapphire Phelan answer a few questions about her book, Dark Leopard Magic which is the sequel to Beast Magic.

I found the book to be very entertaining. I fell in love with Sapphire's characters, Dev and Montsho and cheered them on throughout the book. The sex was hot as well as the spin on their powers and lives as shapeshifters.

MM: Was there a reason you picked Key West for the setting?

SP: Good question. I can't really remember why initially I picked Key West, but when looked up about it for descriptions and places (like the library) found that it was a good community for the gay community. So no matter why, i guess it was fate that made me pick the area.


MM: Is there an author that does paranormal/shapeshifter that you look up to?


SP:Kelley Armstrong

MM: Is the paranormal your favorite subgenre?

SP: Yes. Well, part of--I also love science fiction, fantasy and also horror.

MM: When you did the research for this, did you read other shapeshifter books?

SP: No, just on gay sex. I knew my shapeshifters of all kinds since I was a kid, as read up on them in nonfiction books besides fiction. Shapeshifters of all kinds are my favorite supernatural creature (ghosts are too).

MM: Montsho and Dev were vibrant characters. Were their models for the two of them?

SP: Not really. Like most of my characters they're all from m y head. Maybe they are bits and pieces of people I ran into my life, but no one is one set person they are based off of.

MM: Is there a chance that we will see any more stories from this beloved pairing in the future?

SP: This is a second book in a trilogy. The first one was M/F, Beast Magic. There will be a third one, Wolf Magic--werewolves--that will be working on and submitting to Phaze Books. Montsho and Dev most likely will be in that, along with Ramses and Shana from the first one. I can tell you, the werewolf that helped Dev is the hero in that one.
